:Zero Version 2.0:

A taster of how C29 will look in it's new incarnation. Just because I'm dumping colour didn't seem any reason to me to compromise on style, and in many ways I feel black and white art is more stylish than colour.

I've gone for a slightly more stylised colouring method that uses only two shades per colour. The reasons are two fold. The first is the streamlining of the art process this allows, meaning I hope, more comic lol. The second is that a lot of my favourite artists like Shirow, Tsutomo Nihei and Kumiko Takahashi rarely use more than a base and a shade, and I wanted to try this out myself. I think the results are decent, though I am still experimenting.

Zero will have a much more prominent part in the new storyline, and because of this, and to make sure I wasn't recycling things that I'd already tried that I thought didn't work, I've heavily redesigned her look. Her hair is less flat, she has in my opinion a cooler and more distinctive outfit, and she's got a better build, she looks less stringy and more sleek and powerful here if you ask me. I took inspiration from two artists who've done very interesting renditions of her in the past, my friend and comics guru *RODCOM1000 and my brother, who recently sent me an excellent digital painting he did of her when I was first starting C29. Rod has done black and white work with Zero before, and I loved how she looked so wanted to take a shot at it myself.
